Dear Friends,
The Southern region of America has suffered greatly from mighty onslaughts of hurricanes in Texas and Florida. Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have devastated both states with ferocious winds, voluminous rainfall and flooding. This natural disaster has directly inflicted the loss of life and has destroyed property and the semblance of order by its powerful displays of energy. These events have resurrected the inveterate character of the American people, by the outpouring of assistance and compassion known throughout generations. Many of us have taken a deep breath and have prayed for the safety and security of those in the path of these storms. Prayer is the only unique method available to prevent a catastrophe from overwhelming our understanding and appreciation of our lives and those suffering around us. The help we give to others during this time of grief, is a reminder to all Americans that a magnanimous approach compels us to do the right thing.

It was 16 years ago today - September 11th, 2001 - America was under attack. The World Trade Center along with the Pentagon and another hijacked plane, succumbed to the forces of evil on that day. Nearly 3000 lives were lost due to the horrific and unconscionable betrayal of the human spirit. Since that day, our lives have changed dramatically as we are always reminded of the monstrous plan devised to destroy a nation blessed by its concepts of liberty and freedom. While 9/11 was a man made disaster, the character of the first responders and the entire nation, heightened a compassionate spirit for lives lost. The circumstances that led and promulgated this disaster, is an image of evil that Americans will never forget.

As is my custom, I was at Church yesterday. Our congregation and discerning Americans everywhere prayed for those suffering from the storms. I have family in Florida facing the inevitable, as the direct path of Hurricane Irma has progressed. I am comforted by Scripture, Romans 13: 8-10 when the Good Lord affectionately evokes the wisdom of the ages by reminding us "You shall love your neighbor as yourself". Many Americans have come to realize those affected by the hurricanes and the horrific events of 9/11, will be comforted by the spirit that will never cease to protect our understanding of life eternal.

Thanks again for your continuous support.
