Dear Friends,

Today is the first day of Spring! I remember when I lived in the Midwest as a youngster, I was truly excited at the prospect that Winter was fast losing its grip on the freezing weather I rarely enjoyed. Throwing snowballs at my friends was fun, but wearing heavy clothing to keep warm to end my shivering, having a runny nose and suffering from colds on a yearly basis, are recollections I tend to forgo on a conscious level.  After my college years, moving to Arizona and later to California were journeys that offered a true 'climate change' that I had a hand in controlling. The warm weather has contributed to my appreciation of the 4 Seasons as Spring is considered the beginning of life! The blooming of flowers, plants and the excitement of living from the hibernation of the Winter months, is a ritual I've always looked forward to.

This is also the Season in which I begin my Spring Cleaning. During the next several weeks, I will attempt to donate seldom worn clothing, pairs of shoes or other artifacts of my life collecting dust, and donate them to charity. Lent has also heightened my awareness in various forms of almsgiving, and I'm compelled to embrace compassionate acts of generosity.

If you can, please donate your personal goods to either Goodwill Industries or

St. Vincent de Paul in your community.
