Dear Friends,

Today is February 29th.

We have an extra day to celebrate February as we are in a LEAP YEAR!  Every 4 years this phenomenon occurs and whatever happens on this day has a chance to be remembered, or we can scratch our heads next year when this day magically disappears from our consciousness in 2021.

I'm fascinated by the history of adding an extra day on the calendar. It all started back in 45 BC when Julius Caesar adopted this method in his attempt to align the calendar with the revolutions of the Earth around the Sun.

Centuries later and since 1582, we are currently under the Gregorian calendar devised by Pope Gregory XIII. This system was established to correct the number of days a LEAP YEAR is entitled to.

On this special day, if I have my calculations correct, this will be my 16th LEAP YEAR since my birth. Frankly, I do not remember any of my LEAP DAYS as this momentous LEAP has not been recognized as a time of major importance. However, if I was born on a LEAP DAY, I would consider myself to be truly exceptional and gifted! Nevertheless, I am happy to have my thoughts on record on a LEAP DAY, so I can remember this day until the next LEAP YEAR in 2024!

Thanks again for your continuous support.
