HOLY WEEK - 2020
April 9th, 2020 11:07 AM

Dear Friends,

I am deeply saddened by the dramatic change our lives have undertaken, ever since the Coronavirus descended in America. The reality of it all is a cry for help, as many in this country and around the world are depressed emotionally and financially, as this pandemic has created havoc everywhere we turn.

Holy Week began on Palm Sunday. Christians around the world celebrated the entrance to Jerusalem by Jesus so many years ago. Many believers were unable to attend Church services in their parish. Proclamations by local and state governments prohibited the assembly of congregations due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Missing church service on Palm Sunday is a rare occurrence for many of us that are devout in our faith. The inability to attend our Parish for services on Good Friday and on Easter Sunday, contributes to a deep sense of loss in understanding on how we are to respond to the circumstances and the complexities that are truly overwhelming our lives.

While I was unable to attend Church last Sunday, I was able to be inspired by watching the mass online. I will do the same this weekend, as I become accustomed to the newest reality that has emerged.

We are living in challenging times. Americans are learning the underlying sanctity for human life uncovered by a pandemic that has given us the time to ponder the substance of our character. While the spread of the Coronavirus continues unabated, we are duly aware of the abrupt conflicts to our civil and religious liberties we have as Americans by those taking advantage of this nation's good graces. Even though there are disconcerting voices that have politicized the pandemic, there is hope on the horizon.

It is well recognized that Americans are helping their families, friends and neighbors during this time to defeat the 'invisible enemy' that has disrupted our lives. Once America is back on track - sooner rather than later - our nation will become stronger in its altruistic convictions. Once again America will be reminded of its Judeo-Christian roots, and its embrace of a Democratic-Republican form of government.

Our prayers for guidance this Holy Week, will help restore and preserve our love for this great nation - under God.

Wishing you, your family and friends a Happy Passover & a Happy Easter!

Thanks again for your continuous support.
