Dear Friends,
Just the other day I remembered the first Thanksgiving holiday my entire family celebrated in Michigan. My two brothers and I left Cuba in April of 1962. The cruel and despotic communism that enveloped the island during that period, prohibited my parents from accompanying us in escaping Havana to live in freedom. Through the immense power of prayer and the cooperation of numerous merciful members of the Catholic Church, the US and Mexican governments and other concerned members reviewing our plight, we were able to reunite as a family in August of 1966.
It was Thursday, November 24th, 1966 when my beloved parents cooked the greatest meal ever prepared! I can remember all the splendid dishes assembled at our
dining table - to this day!
It has been 51 years since that wonderful day! We enjoyed and appreciated the love we shared and received that Season, from our newest neighbors and compassionate members of the community.

When I travel in time towards Thursday, November 23rd, 2017, I do have similar feelings. My heart is overwhelmed with gratitude for the many years I have had the blessing to celebrate and be comforted by old and new friends, my family that I just adore and the acquaintances I'm able to recognize by their beautiful smiles. Even in Los Angeles I'm able to discover life does exist! Just last Sunday afternoon I attended our Church's yearly Pre-Thanksgiving Pot Luck and I had the most wonderful time conversing with members of our congregation. An elderly friend that I have not seen in awhile due to illness attended, and we reminisced about her son, now deceased, and the glorious times we've had in the past dining at an Italian restaurant  I also enjoyed my time with a blind gentleman as we discussed his favorite music and the rewarding experiences he's had with members of the Church. These simple recollections of my journeys throughout life are truly heartwarming, as any physical handicap I may view of others does not define their tranquil presence.
This Thanksgiving, I will always give gratitude to the Good Lord and everyone that I've come across in my travels, as I search for God's will for my life. I am content to live in a nation that still believes in principles that elevates the human spirit. I will be out and about for several days, but I will close my eyes and do my best to recapture the excitement and gratitude of that first Thanksgiving with my beloved family.
I'm truly thankful I have the ability to have memories of all the great times I've had on Thanksgiving day.
May you, your family and friends have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks again for your continuous support.
