Dear Friends,

I've been watching the British drama, EASTENDERS on and off since the late 1980's. I needed a break from the deluge of tragic deaths and despondency that has a major prevalence in a soap opera that can be habit forming. Sometimes I compare my life with the characters on the Square and I'm content to live without the stress these folks are subjected to on every episode. By viewing the lives of these characters for over 30 years, one can be affected by the storylines where devastation is a non stop affliction. I stopped watching the show almost two years ago when one of my favorite characters dies in an accident that was shocking beyond belief!. I said to myself, this is enough, as I have become at times emotionally attached to several of the residents of the imaginary borough of Walford.

The personalities on the soap have an ability to become members of your friends and family, even though their entire existence is truly fictional. I for one appreciate the skill and imagination of the writers by the multitude of plots that are so devious that Satan must have been on the EASTENDERS payroll! Nonetheless, the range of emotions of the actors are exceptional and tremendously believable.

Just yesterday and by happenstance I decided to view the newest developments in a drama that I have not viewed for a long period of time. I had no idea this was the 35th Anniversary of EASTENDERS and when I viewed the storyline of the characters, I was shocked and dismayed of the living hell the inhabitants of this town must go through to acquire an ounce of happiness or wisdom that has rarely been found since I've been watching this show! With that said, as I mentioned earlier, if I were to compare my life with the residents in Walford, I can truly count my blessings as I'm happier that I could ever imagine!

While the old adage that 'truth is stranger than fiction', EASTENDERS has flipped this expression due to an ensemble environment that continues to plug circumstances considered unbelievable, but embedded in truth. For me, this is an EASTENDERS WEEKEND, as I catch up with the many episodes I missed.

Thanks again for your continuous support.
